Sam at the special needs park

It was such a nice day today that Sam and I went to the special needs park! (Luke slept over Patty's last night after a loonngg day of fishing on the boat with Pep and John. ) He (and I ) get upset because he can't do everything there, but we do what we can! :) These are some pics of him doin' his thing! :) (He actually was "sitting" on his own when he was "playing" in the sand. Even though he wa sleaned over and it was for a brief moment, it looks great to me!! :) Enjoy the pics! (Sorry they're such a weird perspective, I was taking them trying to hold him up in most of them!) He also figured out how to keep himself in the "big boy" swing by leaning FORWARD instead of falling back! I thought it was pretty clever, except that his legs are long and he almost reaches the ground when swinging!! He was smiling at the woman talking to her baby on the swing next to us! :) (We gave up trying to use the special needs swings because he just slides down out of it. Uggh! ) :(

Luke and Sammy.. Whoa :)

Last night, Luke decided he would ACTUALLY interact with Sam!! Believe it or not!! :) He wanted Sam to try a Bing Cherry in his new little chewer device that we bought for him so he can have food and not choke on it. (Luke loves them, so he thinks Sam should!) :) He put it in the chewer, and went over to Sam and said, "Hey, Sam...Do you want a cherry?" (in a VERY sweet voice!) :) Sammy was like, whoa...he's TALKING to me. :) I included a pic above.... I HAD to take a pic of it! :)

I also included some cutie-patootie pics of Sammy , I couldn't resist!

I also couldn't resist embarassing Brian!! He put Sammy's floaty swimmy sweater on his head to make Sam laugh! Except we ALL laughed! HA, HA!!! :)

Dang it's hot..and Sammy in his new Pacer...

OMG---it's like 90 degrees out today! Ugh! Sammy went in the pool and had a ball splashing around. He LOVES to splash ME, especially when I tell him NOT to! :) Little bugger! :) I couldn't get any pics today, but I will post some of him last time he went in...Luke was the photographer! :)

Luke had a friend from school over today and they were practicing their WWE moves in the kiddie pool. I wish I had a pic of THAT! It was a sight to behold! :) We are all enjoying our summer vacation. Well earned this year, let me tell ya! ;)

Sammy also had Speech therapy this morning and she told me that he is so smart that she really wants to get him recognizing pics of things and being able to name them so he can use a computer augmentive speech device. She said she knows he will be able to do it. She also said again that she believes he will have "words" but that she doesn't think that his mouth will be able to keep up with all of the thoughts that his brain is coming up with! Kind of a compliment and a stab in the heart at the same time! And so it goes....that seems to be how things go for us...

Anywho...before Speech, I had Sam in his Pacer and here are some pics of him with his AFO's. I didn't bother putting his shoes on , it was only for a few minutes.

Sammy had his follow-up appt. with the neuro at Baystate last Friday. He basically said it was great to see him doing so well. (Of course, we had a whole 5 minutes with the doc because he was running late) We also stopped at Shriners and picked up his brand new Rifton Pacer (his gait trainer) that they paid for , for us! Shriners rules!!!!!!! :) They also said that his new bath seat (that they are also paying for) is on its way! Yippee!!!! Sammy DOES love his tubby!! :) I will post pics of the new Pacer when I get a sec and the bath seat when we get it!! (censored of course!) hee,hee.... :)

Mary, Luke and I went fishing a few weeks ago on Cheshire Lake and we had some great catches! (I had to share the pics) (Sammy was snoozing up at the house with Patty and Joe!) :)
